I'm happy to announce the birth of my first grandchild. My daughter Jessie is gave birth to little Kayla Lee 5 lbs. 6 oz. on October 18th. |
Although the site is browseable with almost any PC (even AOL @ 256), the site does contain java, javascript, shockwave, flash, DHTML, IE 6.x enhancements, and hi-res graphics that will all look better in a hi-res. environment with java and flash plugins enabled. Some items not available in Netscape browsers older than the 6.x versions. Site designed at 1024 x 768 x 32 bit color. |

- July 2003: Notice: There have been quite a few "Pay Pal" emails circulating asking for account information. While these are designed to appear as if they are coming directly from pay pal - THEY ARE NOT. These are fraud attempts to trick the user into submitting your account information. DO NOT supply ANY information to these email bandits. If you wish to access, verify, or change ANY pay-pal information - go directly to the paypal secure site at: https://www.paypal.com site, and login through their secure server.

- June 2003: The latest Google dance was thrown into confusion for a couple days while Google sorted through the new algorythims.
- April 2003: Yahoo purchases the Inktomi search database company in efforts to regain lost clients. While they compete with Google, Yahoo declared that the two companies would continue to partner with one another to provide the best possible solutions to the Internet.
- February 19, 2003: Internet Hacker News: Over 8 million credit card numbers were stolen through the Internet. FBI and other federal authorities searching for culprit.
- February 2003: The Code Red virus has once again resurfaced in an effort to Slow the Internet with DoS. the WWW was prepared and very little damage was actually done
- January 24, 2003: SQL slammer worm disabled many ATM machines and slowed the Internet greatly. Effects lasted less than half a day. While this was most likely not an 'attack', but rather a test, it did show MANY vulnerabilities that many of the main Internet components had.
- January 2003: the Internet was once again subjected to an attack. Similar to the Code Red DoS (Denial of Services) attack (Feb. 2001), this slowed many Internet connections to a crawl on a Saturday morning. The good news was that everyone recovered very quickly from this, and it was more of an annoyance than anything else.

- July 2003: New wallpaper. Including a few NASCAR wallpapers. Added NASCAR and Wallpaper link exchange pages. I've noticed a problem with the Index page of the wallpaper section concerning the java app, and some firewalls. I'm working on a resolution. Until then I will post the page list on the sitemap
- July 21, 2003: The web-friend.com site was in-accessable for approximately 2 hours early Monday morning. Everything was restored and running smoothly by lunchtime.

- July 7, 2003: A few updates and new pages in the articles section of help. Noteably: html design tips, and updates to the getting found in the search engines.
- July 5, 2003: Added a computer and technology history time-line page that documents an extensive list of noteable events in the fields of computers, communications, TV, radio, video games, and other technology related fields.
- June 1 - 15: Due to a hard-drive crash, several link exchange requests were lost, and not much new material was posted. I was back on-line within 24 hours, and the website was not affected other than new link exchanges which where often 3 - 5 days late in being posted.
